7 Nov 2004 - "I turn to Christ"

it was the most emotional baptism service i've ever been to. i wasn't prepared for what overcame me. i cried and cried as the baptism candidates declared "i turn to Christ!" one by one, especially the youth.

the scene before me was just too much for me to bear. the tears just kept flowing as God said, "this is what it's about. it's about my children turning to Me." i imagined that if i could be so overwhelmed by the sight of people, young people making a stand for Christ, how much more Father God would be in total elation!

thoughts of the day 14 years ago when i was baptised came flooding back. i turned to Christ. no turning back. as a young girl of 15, not really knowing what i was getting myself into, i got baptised without even going through any classes. my pastor then just told me, you want to get baptised tomorrow? i said yes, and he said OK, come get baptised tomorrow. and i did!

what i didn't know then was that act of obedience meant my life was no longer my own. and since i had made that stand, my faithful Father in heaven stuck to His side of the deal to ensure that all things work for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. even though my turning to Christ then was a shifty, uncertain one, the dark years following that have all turned for good.

i turned to Christ. no turning back.
