Attracting Revelation

Today's devotion had some pretty pointed and poignant things for reflection.

"Pillar truths are also called core values, the foundation statements of faith that uphold the structure of a perspective or worldview."

"If your enemy can't keep you from learning these truths, he works to make you believe that knowing ABOUT them is the goal of discipleship, not living them out from a deepening relationship with God Himself."

"Revelation comes through relationship."

"Probing your heart to see if you love God enough is always a dead end."

(from "Supernatural Power of a Transformed Mind" by Bill Johnson)

The last sentence is especially fascinating. And true to every extent. I've always wondered why it was hard for me to ask myself if I love God enough. Maybe it's because the previous times I've done that, I've always ended up feeling self-condemned, which I've discovered now that's not of God! So I don't focus on that anymore. Instead I focus on what God has to say about me. If there's anything that needs to be corrected, He will reveal, discipline and guide me through. I just need to be listening and obeying. If He's pleased with me, I just continue to trust and obey Him.

I was reflecting on John 15:21-26 and at face value, it seems as though God's love has conditions. "Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me... If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching." If we look at these verses literally and without context, I think it's easy to think that God's love is subject to our obedience in Him. While that can be said to carry some degree of truth, it runs counter to what I know of God's love and nature, and that is, His love is unconditional. How do we reconcile that?

I believe the point Jesus was making was that the proof of someone who loves Him is someone who will obey His commands and teaching. Essentially, it is quite natural to obey someone when you love them. Quite different from the first perspective. He almost seems to be describing how you would spot someone who loves God. This ties back to understanding that love is a choice and commitment - not just an emotion and words - but always through actions.

Furthermore, we love not because we can, but because we accept love from God in the first place. Our wicked hearts are scarcely capable of love on their own, but when captivated by God's love, we begin to be able to reflect that back to God and the people He loves.

Therefore obedience to His commands is deeply tied to us loving God. And obedience comes from relationship. And revelation comes through relationship. Wow! It's all connected. I can't just know ABOUT God and that He can do wonders and miracles. I need to KNOW the God of miracles through an ongoing and deepening relationship with Him.

Every revelation He gives can be through an act of obedience on mine. And every step of obedience acts as a foundation for further revelation. And all this comes through love. His love for me, firstly, and then my response of love back to Him. (Thank you Father...)

So loving God is important and we all know that. But living and walking that out is another thing. I hardly doubt my sincerity in wanting to love God, but doing it is a whole new ballgame. That's why John 14:26 is remarkable. After all is said about obeying God's commands, Jesus reveals,

"But the Counsellor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you."

We can try all we want to love God, but by our strength we're just going to feel like failures. The grace and love of God is so amazing - He gives us a Teacher to show us how to love and obey God. And better still, He will REMIND us of everything God has said... probably because God knows we are people who have a tendency to forget the most important things.

So, what a relief. Such freedom.

God loves us, and therefore we can love Him back. In our desire to love Him back, we obey His commands. Our obedience and trust attracts revelation from Him, which makes us even more hungry for Him. And in the midst of all this, the Holy Spirit teaches us how to love God, and reminds us when we forget His words and lose our way. In all angles, I see that we simply can't lose when we set our hearts to love Him. It's no longer about how much I love God, but about how much He loves me.

That to me, is one of the greatest revelations I have ever received through the Holy Spirit.

Hiatus

Realised I haven't blogged for a long time! Well I have good reason... went for wisdom tooth surgery mid-April and survived a bad infection through a whole month's worth of antibiotics and God's grace. Right after that it was off to Australia for my long awaited holiday.

Speaking about the Australia trip, besides the usual bumming around at beaches which I love, and the wonderful dry and cool weather, spending time with Bob and Nola always refreshes me and reminds me of the love of God. In particular, Bob's just such a wonderful representation of Father God, and a fatherly figure which I had lacked for most of my life. His gentleness, wisdom, humour and love always feels to me as if God Himself was interacting with me. Well I guess Bob really has securely experienced the Father's love for him, and therefore he is able to extend it to others, even non-family like me.

Tonight I ministered to someone with SOZO for the first time. I was initially quite tired but also excited because I was looking forward to what God will do in this person, even though I don't know who she is. True enough, God really ministered to her and I walked out of the session feeling refreshed and encouraged too. The presence of God really does that. That's why it's so important to minister FROM His presence rather than FOR His presence. Serving from a position of rest always beats striving. I must remember that.

Called to the Impossible

What does it mean to be called to the impossible?

Bill Johnson once said (and it's recorded in some of his books):
"Many believers think miracles and power are for the extra-special anointed people of God. Many get hung up on the idea that Jesus did miracles as God, not man. In reality... He did miracles as a man in right relationship with God because He was setting forth a model for us, something for us to follow."

The words of Jesus are recorded in John 5:19 -
"I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does."

And in John 14:12 -
"I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father."

Hang on Jesus...

Are You saying...

... since You only do what You see the Father doing, when we have faith in You, when we believe in You, we will do what You have been doing. And... because You have already gone to the Father, we should be doing "greater things"...?

Does it also mean, that if we are NOT doing what You have been doing, we don't have faith in You?

And if that's so... that means, we are able to do all You have done (except atone for our sins, of course). Casting out demons, healing the sick, raising the dead, calming the storm, preaching the Kingdom and displaying God's love here on earth.

... and even "greater things"... whatever that means...?

Jesus...

I think...

... that's what You mean by what You said.

I will continue to trust You with my life.

I will remember that faith has more to do with trusting my life with Someone than exerting some kind of mental effort to have faith in individual truths and principles.

Renew my mind Lord Jesus.

A person's a person no matter how small

For the brave at heart... read at your own risk! Something that gripped my spirit years ago and I'm running after God believing that abortion will be ended!

This following email was sent to my prayer partners a few weeks ago.

Dear friends and partners,

I’m not sure if you’ve heard this story regarding Dr Seuss’s children’s story “Horton Hears A Who”. 2 years ago when we were in Bethel Church, Lou Engle, the keynote speaker for the youth pastors conference we were attending, first shared his discovery about what God might be saying about abortion through this book. 2 years from then, this children’s story has been made into a full-length animated movie featuring the voices of Jim Carrey and Steve Carrell (of Evan Almighty fame). This movie “Horton” opens in cinemas this week.

I attach some articles for your reading. It’s quite exciting because this revelation first came through a dream from a 15 year-old girl.

Also do have a look and listen to these messages by Lou Engle:
Horton Hears A Who: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2fmMrAihpc
Horton Gets a Clue: http://www.elijahlist.com/ledownload.html

I’m just really excited about what God’s doing. I STILL BELIEVE abortion will end by no other strategy but prayer!

Watch and Pray. God is moving.

For revival,
jenn

On Eve of Jim Carrey's MOVIE: "HORTON HEARS A WHO?" --Is God up to Something? Was HORTON an "ACCIDENTAL" PRO-LIFE COMMENTARY?

By Lou Engle and Steve Shultz
Mar 12, 2008

I've been standing with Lou Engle on "Pro-life Causes" for a number of years now, going way back to THE CALL that met on the Washington D.C. Mall.

But when this was revealed, I almost came out of my chair. Imagine! God putting the seed inside the mind of an unsuspecting writer--the writer of the Dr. Seuss books. In his writings is the story of HORTON HEARS A WHO!

Many years later, God would visit His people in dreams and tell them that the perfect picture of HIS HEART and HIS STRATEGY to end the MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of abortions--can be found in an unsuspecting movie, written by an unsuspecting author, who likely had no intentions of giving such a message. But a God in Heaven can add His SAVING GRACE (and the saving of Life is GRACE) to HORTON HEARS A WHO--starring JIM CARREY--and in effect, God is saying, "Here is what I, the LORD, intended for that story to accomplish. Now watch it and understand My strategies to end abortion!"

We are standing at the crossroads of one of the most pivotal times in history! Below are excerpts from a word by Lou Engle that we first posted last year. Due to the incredible significance of this message, not only are we posting it again, but along with the timely resources offered at the bottom of the word, we are giving you a free downloadable message by Lou Engle called Horton Gets A Clue (this is the 2nd message from the teaching set Horton Gets A Clue).

Please take time to carefully read this word and listen to the free download--and please invite the Holy Spirit to stir you in intercession for the UNBORN, and for righteousness to prevail in our courts and in this upcoming election! Forward this call for prayer and action to all your family and friends.

Lou Engle says this about the storybook and movie Horton Hears A Who, concerning saving the unborn, "What if this story is a secret that is about to become a bomb?"

This is an excerpt taken from Lou Engle's word originally posted on 3/3/07:

If you hang around the Dream King,
You get into His dream stream,
You join yourself to His dream team,
And you do the Martin Luther King thing.

This was the poem of our heart when we launched the Justice House of Prayer (JHOP) in DC. A band of young people dared to dream and pray that another great move of justice would roll down like the waters of justice that swelled and swept away segregation in the days of that great prophet Martin Luther King, Jr. Now, once again, like the sound of many waters, God is shouting: "I have a dream! Let the unborn go free! Let them be conceived in liberty, and let them be adopted in infancy."

Dr. Seuss Book

God is communicating His big dream of ending abortion in a most profound way through the dream stream story of Horton Hears A Who by Dr. Seuss. In February 2005, one of our youth, a 15-year-old girl at the Justice House of Prayer, had a dream. In the dream she saw a large, beautiful building with the words "The Who" appearing over it. She and her sisters entered the house and began to look throughout the building until they found the attic where there was a series of old books from the past that they knew would be needed for the future. She shared her dream with the JHOP team. I knew the dream was from God, but I wondered, "What is 'The Who,' and what are these old books?"

The next morning while pondering the dream, I received a remarkable email from a man in Kansas City that included a sermon he gave several years ago on what must occur for abortion to end. He felt led to send it to me, even though he thought it was unusual that the analogy the Lord had given him was based on the Dr. Seuss book, Horton Hears a Who. When I read this, I instantly connected "The Who" in the dream with "The Who" in the book. I was immediately interested!

In this children's book written in 1954, we find an elephant whose name is Horton. He is the prophetic Church with big ears and a large trumpet. He can hear what no one else can hear--the sound of these little people called, The Whos, who live in the microscopic town of Who-ville.

In the book, we also find a kangaroo who wants to kill all the little Whos, because he cannot see or hear them. He doesn't believe they exist. Immediately the thought came to me, "The kangaroo is the kangaroo court!"--it stands for the Supreme Court who issued the death decree of '73 in Roe v Wade, and legalized abortion. Wow! I realized that what I was reading was a parable from the past that was now going to be used en masse, for the ending of abortion. The theme of the whole book amazingly is, "A person's a person, no matter how small!" And the remedy for the crisis is that every voice must be raised loudly and urgently to rescue all the little unborn Whos. With the kangaroo's death decree hanging over Who-ville, Horton implores the mayor "to CALL a big meeting, get everyone out, make every Who holler, make every Who shout!"

Quoted from Dr. Seuss' book Horton Hears A Who: (red color added by Lou Engle)

And Horton called back, "I can hear you just fine.
But the Kangaroo's ears aren't as strong, quite, as mine.
They don't hear a thing! Are you sure all your boys
Are doing their best? Are they ALL making noise?
Are you sure every Who down in Who-ville is working?
Quick! Look through your town! Is there anyone shirking?"
Through the town rushed the Mayor, from the east to the west.
But everyone seemed to be doing his best.
Everyone seemed to be yapping or yipping!
Everyone seemed to be beeping or bipping!
But it wasn't enough, all this ruckus and roar!
He HAD to find someone to help him make more.
He raced through each building! He searched floor-to-floor!
And, just as he felt he was getting nowhere,
And almost about to give up in despair,
He suddenly burst through a door and that Mayor
Discovered one shirker! Quite hidden away
In the Fairfax Apartments (Apartment 12-J)
(12 = government; J = Justice)
A very small, very small shirker named Jo-Jo
Was standing, just standing, and bouncing a Yo-Yo!
Not making a sound! Not a yipp! Not a chirp!
And the Mayor rushed inside and grabbed the young twerp!
And he climbed with the lad up the Eiffelberg Tower.
"This," cried the Mayor, "is your town's darkest hour!
The time for all Whos who have blood that is red
(A connection with the Blood)
To come to the aid of their Country!" he said.
"We've GOT to make noise in greater amounts!
So, open your mouth, lad! For every voice counts!"
Thus he spoke as he climbed. When they got to the top,
The lad cleared his throat and he shouted out, "YOPP!"
(Young Ones Praying and Prophesying)
And that Yopp...
That one small, extra Yopp put it over!
Finally, at last! From that speck on that clover
Their voices were heard! They rang out clear and clean
And the elephant smiled. "Do you see what I mean?...
They've proved they ARE persons, no matter how small.
(I believe the crux of the Abortion issue is the deception
from satan that says the unborn are not people at all.)
And their whole world was saved by the Smallest of All!"
"How true! Yes, how true," said the big kangaroo.
"And, from now on, you know what I'm planning to do?...
From now on, I'm going to protect them with you!"
And the young kangaroo in her pouch said,...
"...ME TOO!
From sun in the summer. From rain when it's fall-ish,
I'm going to protect them. No matter how small-ish!"

This Book Speaks of Abortion

Graciously, The ElijahList blasted this story February 16, 2005. Amazingly, the next day I received an email from a woman who said she read The ElijahList article and received three confirmations the following day at her Day Care Center. One child came in with a Horton Hears A Who backpack, a second was carrying a Who-ville doll, but the third--a ten-year-old boy--came to her and said, "Ma'am, I had a dream last night. I dreamt of Horton Hears a Who, and all the little Whos were not saying YOPP; they were crying STOP!!!"

Oh, my God, there is a massive cry being raised up from the young ones of the earth, praying and prophesying, "STOP ABORTION, STOP! STOP! STOP!!!!!!!!!!" What are the chances of this divine confirmation? Those who read this are now held accountable. The whole Church must cry out now--STOP ABORTION!

Soon after, another man connected with me and said, "My ten-year-old daughter was reading Horton Hears A Who to her little brother." She came to her father and said, "Dad, I think this book is about ending abortion." That afternoon, he read The Elijah List article on Horton Hears a Who. This man now leads our Bound4LIFE ministry.

Again, amazingly, we found out that Fox Movies is doing a major motion picture in 2008, called, Horton Hears A Who, starring Jim Carrey (update, this movie opens up this Friday, March 14, 2008).

The Lord is SHOUTING to the nation! Will we have ears to hear what the Spirit is saying?

A great convergence is upon us. If the Church understands the times and what God is seeking to bring forth, we can shout to the nation, before the movie comes out, that Horton Hears a Who is about the ending of abortion--so when millions of people watch the movie, they will all be thinking, "A person's a person, no matter how small--The Whos are the unborn!"

Can you see it? This is God's trumpet to the nation! God is marching out, shattering ideologies, and moving His great Mind and Heart into the earth. He moves the media and makes it His pawn. Oh, the brilliant Wisdom of God! He takes a book out of the archives of history that millions have read since 1954, pulls it out, and slams it into the present through a movie. The light penetrates the lie, the armor of the strongman is stripped away, the demon is named, and can now be cast out!

Oh God, we need a national exorcism of this spirit of death that has ruled over us for 34 years! Every voice must be counted. Buy the book! Spread it around! Start children's prayer meetings to end abortion! Support crisis pregnancy centers! May your voice be heard in your voting. Pray for Jim Carrey to be radically saved--he could shout to the world, "This movie is about ending abortion!"

A young woman had a dream knowing nothing of the movie or Jim Carrey's involvement. She dreamt that Jim Carrey was a Christian and that he was carrying a briefcase with two books in it. The first one was called, Shaping History Through Prayer and Fasting, by Derek Prince, and the second one was a book called, Mobilizing The Army of God. Could this man and this movie mobilize a pro-life army of young people who will fast and pray for justice?

The front page of Time Magazine (last year, 2007) showed a hand with four different-sized fetuses resting on it. The article is saying that there are more crisis pregnancy centers than there are abortion clinics in America, and that abortion is at its lowest rate since the beginning years of when abortion was legalized. In the same magazine, there is an article about Jim Carrey, and he is seeking spiritual enlightenment, but doesn't know Jesus yet. Save him, God!!!

"It is time for all the Whos who have blood that is red to come to the aid of their country, he said." Suddenly, Dr. Suess kicks out of Who-ville and into national prophecy, not even knowing it. Christians must come to the aid of America carrying the Blood of Jesus, which alone can wash away our sins. It is not enough that Jesus died; the Blood must be applied to the doorposts of our national guilt. Oh, that millions of Christians would plead, "Jesus, I plead Your Blood over my sins and the sins of my nation. God, end abortion and send revival to America." Go to www.Bound4LIFE.com to see how you can be a part of a mass movement of pleading the Blood of Jesus over our nation.

The YOPPS Must Be Heard

The voices of Jo-Jos just bouncing their yo-yos must now be heard. The Jo-Jos are Christians who are enjoying their comfortable careers, but are oblivious to the crisis. They are the youth in our Church youth groups who play with their iPods and who browse in their Windows. While living for entertainment, they have no idea that they were meant to be a part of God's great movement to end abortion! Their voices must be heard now!!! Let Myspace® and You Tube become their Eieffelberg towers from which they shout out their YOPPS and their STOPS.

Why would God give this dream stream to a group of young people who pray everyday in front of the Supreme Court calling on God to raise up righteous judges who will reverse Roe v Wade? To encourage hearts and release a movement through their prayers! So that it will be said:

"How true, yes, how true," said the big kangaroo, "and from now on you know what I am planning to do? From now on I am going to protect them with you!"

Brothers and sisters, let us believe that the Supreme Court will protect all the unborn little Whos, that God's big dream will come true, and that all the Whos' dreams could come true too.

It is profound that in the dream, the young lady saw not just one book, but a series of old books needed for the future. Read Horton Hatches an Egg. It is about a bird who wants to go play, rather than sit on her egg. So Horton, the elephant again, sits on the egg until the egg hatches. When the egg hatches, out comes, not a little baby bird, but an elephant with wings.

The moral of the story is this: he who cares for the unwanted child--that child will take on the nature of the one who cared for it. It is the spirit of adoption! God is calling the Church to adopt and care for the unwanted children in the nation. We have got to be Jesus' love answer. We can't just be pro-birth we must be pro-life!

Let the prophetic Church arise and carry the heart of Heaven! Let them hear The Call for united fasting and prayer on behalf of those who have no voice! Let the prophetic Church hear what the world can't hear, and may they blow the trumpet once again, declaring, "God has a dream, and we have His dream, and millions will be mobilized to become the river of justice rolling down again..."

Here's where it gets exciting...

The SOZO team from Bethel has been such a blessing. I'm so grateful for their faith, humility and generosity in blessing and releasing a fresh outpouring of God's Spirit and power.

Today in particular, during youth service, I was so excited that I could barely contain myself. I felt like I was going to leap out of my skin! (I know JohnC was like that too... I think he did almost leap out of his skin... keke) But really, there was such a strong pronouncement of destiny in the hearts of the youth today. ("LIONS. HEAR US ROARRRRRR.....") That's what is needed. A certainty of God's promises in our lives, not the problems. Declaring what is already there into being... just by the spoken word...

Breaking of the spirits of fear and intimidation was spot on. Almost the entire congregation stood up. It's amazing how much fear we have in us! I refuse to bow down to that and I know that in Jesus, every fear has to go. So I declare the shutting of fear's door upon the ministry in Jesus' name!

When there was a call for the musicians, artists, dancers etc, the entire altar area was filled! In my mind, I was like, oh my... we finally flushed them all out! There were SO MANY of them. Wow. I pray that, as Len declared, the "banner holders" will rise up and lift high the name of Jesus and proclaim "Jehovah Nissi - The Lord our Banner".

Dawna released an incredible word on me. She said I will be a "mother of nations". Haaa talk about being pregnant. But I was so grateful and excited. It totally resonated in my spirit. I love "my children" so much, whether spiritual or future physical ones. All I ask is that each one would know their true identity in Christ and display the Kingdom of God here on earth.

Later on Joshua (Arbillo) prophesied over me and he was just so spot on, it was AMAZING. The timing of what was released was so accurate. It is possibly one of the most accurate prophecies I have ever received. I looked at John and asked (jokingly) "What have you been telling Josh?" Haaa.... but I was just so blessed that God would speak to me like that. He is just so wonderful... Love you so much Daddy God.

I must sleep now. May I receive dreams inspired by heaven.

Spiritual Senses

I am deeply dissatisfied with a powerless Christian life. Not because of what I have seen but because of what I have not. I believe I was created with an appetite for the impossible and will continue to desire that because I am a child of the God of the impossible. 1 Cor 2:9-10 says "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him but God has revealed it to us by His Spirit."

It is not hidden but it can only be revealed to me by His Spirit. And therefore I pursue Him. I yearn for deeper relationship with my Father through the Spirit. I lie awake at night thinking about the possibilities in Him. "For nothing is impossible with God."

Ecc 3:11 says "He has also set eternity in the hearts of man." He has set eternity in my heart and thus begins the journey of desire for that eternity. I know one thing, and that is how much I desire to have His will manifest and demonstrated in and through my life.

The Spirit is saying to me that the things of the world and of my carnal nature can only satisfy temporarily, but the things of the Spirit nourishes towards eternity. The Father's will for me is good and perfect and THERE IS MORE TO IT. He says, "Stay connected to Me. You shall grow in wisdom and it shall bring Me glory. The desire and appetite you feel are not your own but it is Me who works in you to will and to act according to My good purpose (Phil 2:13)."

ONE PURE AND HOLY PASSION

Give me one pure and holy passion
Give me one magnificent obssession
Give me one glorious ambition for my life
To know and follow hard after You

To know and follow hard after You
To grow as Your disciple in Your truth
This world is empty, pale and poor
Compared to knowing You my Lord
Lead me on and I will run after You
Lead me on and I will run after You

Not all opportunities are meant to be taken

I was deeply inspired and convicted by a sermon I heard recently by Kris Vallotton about "The price of freedom". In it he mentioned with particular emphasis that "God sometimes gives us opportunities that He doesn't want us to take".

One of the scriptural basis of this statement is the story of David and how he was presented the opportunities to kill Saul but didn't take them, even though there were even prophecies to "support" his slaying of Saul (1 Sam 24-26). I was reminded through this story that it was David's heart response that made such a difference and added towards him being called a man after God's heart.

The key thing I took from the message was that God's purpose wasn't so much to have Saul killed but to test and promote David. David's statement of the fear of the Lord says so much:-

He said to his men, "The LORD forbid that I should do such a thing to my master, the LORD's anointed, or lift my hand against him; for he is the anointed of the LORD." - 1 Sam 24:6
At that critical point, even though all signs pointed to him having to kill Saul, and every reason would have justified his actions, David's concern at that point was still honouring God and trusting that God will avenge for him.

God sometimes gives us opportunities He doesn't want us to take to test our hearts and to promote us.

As if wanting to drive the point home, a few days after I heard this message, God presented a opportunity before me that seemed to test if my convictions of what I had learnt were real.

An invitation came for me to lead worship at a big national meeting. Before that, I had already suspected I might be asked again this year, and in my heart, struggled with whether I should say yes or no, and whether it was something God would have me do.

Why should I even struggle with this, you may ask? Well this is a journey God has brought me through over the years to deal with my pride. Being on the platform frequently means pride often rears its ugly head and I am tempted to think more about myself than I should.

Therefore when this invitation came again, I told the Lord that I genuinely was OK not to take it but it wasn't that I was not willing to serve. But at the end of the day, if it's something that He would have me do, I didn't need to strive for it.

The next day, Pastor said no to the person who asked if I could be involved.... and I had such peace!! It must be God!!

Through this timely experience, I learnt that it is more important for God's work in my life to be accomplished first. His purposes extend beyond me but He is also deeply interested in my life. I am compelled to honour God in everything I say and do. I take the example of King David, and Jesus Christ... there are many opportunities that God gives, but our hearts and response must point to Him and not our own interests or agenda.

I'm so grateful that God reminded me of this. Because now the next level of test has just come! I can't share on this public blog but let me just say that it is truly an exciting time of trusting the Lord for His purpose.

My prayer is anchored in His Word:
"... for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose."
- Phil 2:13

As I surrender my life to Him, I trust that He will guide me in my will and actions towards His good purpose.
